If you are not affiliated with Mercyhurst and want to find out more about renting Mercyhurst performance venues for events, start with

Mercyhurst’s Performing Arts Center handles rental inquiries on a first-come, first-served basis. Our venues are very busy! Any available date between early August and mid-June may be considered provided there is not another event already in use.

Consult college calenders (Arts and Entertainment) for a first look at what is currently scheduled.

Your date is not completely secure until a contract has been signed and a 50% deposit of the rental cost received. All those renting the Performing Arts Center facilities must also submit a $1million Certificate of Insurance before the date of the event. (see sample).

SAFETY ISSUES

Insurance Certificates protect you in case of accident and/or injury. Some well-known theater hazards:

– theatrical lighting is HOT! Bulbs can burn you if not handled properly.

– electrical connections can be dangerous.

– the MDPAC orchestra pit is a __ foot drop from the edge of the stage. Any use of the stage should protect participants from falling.

– at the Walker Recital Hall, the tiered seating is very steeply raked. People with vertigo, or vision and mobility impairment should enter at the lower level by elevator, and be walked up to their seats.
